Feeling Steinbeck

We spent a full day in John Steinbeck’s shoes today. Some of these steps I’d done before, but the drive to Salinas was new. The old town sights I expected. The agricultural sights I did not, most notably the rich chocolate Illinois-flat soil that stretched out to the bleached-grass hills. I don’t know how he ever tore himself away.

More images and video of the day exist, but will need extracting at home. Stay tuned 😉

  1. Steinbeck country, yes, beautiful, especially the Carmel valley. Kathy and I used to tour the winding road through cow, barn, and oak scenery, with the top down on our Alfa, and a bag of potato chips to snack on.
